Panetta Congressional Internship Opportunity for Humboldt Students

Each year in the fall semester, Cal Poly Humboldt sends a student to the Panetta Internship program for an expenses-paid, in-depth experience learning about national politics and interning in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. To qualify, a student must be a California resident, be enrolled in a degree-granting program in fall 2020, have achieved a minimum 60 graded units but no more than 120 units in fall 2020 semester, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. The recommended applicant must also pass a criminal background check, and be available to participate in the program August 9 - November 7, 2020.

The application packet should include a two-page essay addressing the student's interest in participating in the Panetta Congressional Internship Program, a sample of a graded college essay (minimum 3 pages), a resume, and complete college transcript. Qualified applicants will be interviewed by a campus committee, which will recommend a finalist and an alternate. The finalist will be interviewed by President Jackson, and then by a committee at the Panetta Institute in Monterey, CA (travel expenses paid) during the week of April 6, 2020.

To learn more details about the internship and its requirements, review the attached materials. For questions about the campus-based application procedure, contact Kay Libolt in the President’s Office at (707) 826-5075 or hsupres@humboldt.edu.

Applications are due electronically in pdf format no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21. Applications should be sent to hsupres@humboldt.edu.
